It's 2 a.m. my old friend....

Awake again in the middle of the night.

I've decided it's the perfect time to put thoughts into words....

I just wish my thoughts at the moment weren't....

Oh My Fucking God, why can't I sleep???

But, I digress.

My visit from the Mighty Marine the best Christmas gift ever, even if it did take an impromptu trip to Detroit Metro, two canceled flights, and one delay in Georgia. I have to say, when you're sitting in an airport waiting to pick up your and it's one catastrophe after another, it becomes a disheartening.

But the moment I saw him....

I will never forget that moment.

I knew two weeks would be gone in a flash so I did everything I could to be living in the moment.

Vacation time at work, spent very time online, revisited the fun memories we'd shared as a family in the past.

Just as I'd thought, two weeks were gone in a flash, though. Before I knew it, he hugging me goodbye and pulling out of my driveway to head back to where he came from.

I'm here to say, goodbye NEVER gets easier.... No matter how many times you say it.

My heart is whole, though, knowing he is safe and well and doing just fine. He misses home but he's found his new niche and is excited to be doing what he's doing.

Which makes me happy.

Happy Wednesday!

Just as always I'm late in reading the blogs. I made a job transfer at work and I'm back on nights which makes me happy. I hadn't seen you over the holidays and thought you might be on vacation. I'm so glad your son got to come home. I'm sure everyone was very happy to see him. It's also nice to see that he's happy in the Marines. I have a feeling that both you and your daughter cried when you saw him. I should have sent you an email wishing you a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. I'm glad that you enjoyed them, and hope you have a wonderful 2022. Hugs, John

"the perfect time to put thoughts into words"????? That's the best time to put drool onto pillows. I made a trip to Dallas to see my Mom 5 wks ago and took the G-girls with me. It's was good to spend time with them.
I've been having some real sleep issues..... Anxiety, lil bit of depression. I just can't seem to really sleep anymore. It doesn't help that I don't do well sleeping alone to begin with.

Wonderful to hear your visit went well! Since he's going to be overseas, you might want to plan to go visit him if he will be in a location you would be able to visit! How exciting would that be?
He has already started making some plans. "You just fly there Ma and I'll make sure the rest is taken care of." Such a good kid, love him so much. It'll be quite a while before he gets leave again, it'll give me time to save for airfare.

I'm so glad you got to spend time with him. As a mother whose grown child lives miles away (actually in your neck of the woods), it's heavenly when we're able to see them.

    Happy Thursday
It's the best feeling, isn't it. I'm trying really hard not to think about how long it will be before I see him again,

Great to hear your Xmas was the best ever ! all my kids have lives and are starting families of their own and I am always sad when they drive away and I am standing in my house alone .....but like you say they are following the natural order and doing what they have to do .. when the kids were young I never thought at all about them leaving and growing up just never prepared for the feeling of them not close to me .. But when we are all together as a family it's fantastic !! So Happy for you your Christmas was a Warm Loving One and your Heart is Happy !! Happy New Year !
Nobody EVER tells you about how hard it is to let them go. They warn you about sleepless nights and dirty diapers, they tell you it all goes by too fast.... But they never tell you how empty it feels when they are gone.

    Ms. secret_lade,

I am glad to hear that you had an enjoyable time with your Mighty Marine while he was on leave. Leave time is something to be enjoyed by both the service member and his family.

I can remember how fast leave seemed to fly by, it seemed like it was never long enough. And no the goodbys never do get easier, just be content with the knowledge that your son goes through the same feelings when leave time is up.

Take care and thank the Mighty Marine for his service for me.
True story, I told him I knew an old Squid who wanted to thank my Jar Head for his service and he laughed. He asked me how I knew an old Squid and I said.... You know me, I know all kinds of people. LOL

I am so proud of this kid, words can't even express it. I think it will get easier with time, it's just really hard for me to have him so far away. He will be going overseas in a week or two, so this visit was extra special. I don't know when I'll have the opportunity to see him next.
