Hamburger Soup.... It's what's for dinner!

I was glancing through my Crockpot cookbook last night when I saw the recipe for Hamburger Soup.

Thinking to myself.....

Self! You can totally make this!

I set out to make myself a pot of Hamburger Soup. I think next time I'm going to tweak the recipe though....

Leave out the Italian Seasoning and add green beans.

Happy Sunday!

I've had soup like that before and it was pretty good. A nice change up from the usual chili that we all make!

My husband's uncle Fred makes something similar to this. My sister-in-law gave me the recipe written on a piece of scrap paper and it was just called "Fred soup". LOL But it does have green beans in it. Anyway, made me think of it. I did make chili this weekend. Maybe Fred soup will have to be next. LOL

Your idea of garlic salt is fine but it'll mostly ad salt and NOT garlic. Try REAL garlic instead; a couple of cloves should do it! 👍 😊

... is there another way to look at it

I think it might be an older recipe, I don't really see people making this type of soup.... But when I mentioned it at work, a few of my older coworkers knew what I was talking about right away.

Looks good, it's almost "chili" season.
I almost made chili, actually, but decided I wanted to try something different. So I went with the hamburger soup.

may i suggest using spicy v-8 juice as the stock for that soup? i do and it really makes it flavorful and hearty...
Oh, that actually sounds good! I'd totally prefer that over the Italian seasoning the recipe called for.

Foil wrapped Salmon Fillet and Asparagus broiled in the oven 😋 About as close as it gets to being made over the coals/embers of a campfire 🤠 P.S. I use Trout if out camping & fishing !!
That sounds really good. Yum!

had pasta salad that i made earlier, but i did the add-ons: tomatoes, feta, olives with, like caesar salad type dressing...i don't own a crockpot but you'll have to send me that recipe. i really think i want to try it.
You don't need a crockpot to cook it, you can totally make it on the stove as well. I'll send you the recipe.

Wait ... You've unpacked everything already from your move.

Okay so either I own WAY to much stuff or I'm lazy as hell because it took me months to unload everything the last time I moved (25 yrs ago). As a matter of fact there are probably still a few unpacked boxes in the garage or basement
I still have 3 boxes in my dining room. One has board games in it, one has Bath and Body products in it, and one has shoes.... I know this because I looked in them all last weekend trying to decide if I wanted to tackle them yet.

I didn't.

But yes, I am almost done unpacking.

wow, that looks so good; warm and comforting esp. now that the nites are getting chillier.
Aside from chopping up the veggies, it was an easy meal. Most of the cooking took place in the crock pot.

What a great soup for fall! 👍 ❗❗
I've never had it before, it wasn't an immediate favorite for me, but I think it was because of the spices. I'm going to try it again with garlic salt instead.... I'm certain I'll like that much better!

I'm with you on the Italian seasoning. Never liked it, even in spaghetti sauce.
I was looking at a recipe for apple enchiladas with cream cheese earlier today. Would make a good dessert after the hamburger soup!
Oh, that does sound yummy!!
