What.S The Point Of Being A Man... If You Can.T Do This...๐Ÿค”โ—

Technology and fancy gadgets have tickled my impressions many times over the decades. But there are glitches in some of those 'new things' out there. The other night SHE popped out, in one of those 'new things' โ€”and froze everything.

Her stylish burgundy car had gridlocked EVERYONE in that parking lot. I was 'jammed,' so I walked to the scene to survey the situation.

The lady with the lifeless car (*and the long legs and tight black skirt*) sat there, her door ajar. I watched as she bent her knees and โ€” with the polish of a Hollywood star โ€” slid out of her leather seat, then planted her stilettos into the white shimmer of those overhead street lights. She slammed her door, hung up her phone, and casually โ€” looked around at ALL of us.

I should have added; I was one person, in a small HERD of men โ€” ready to help. One of us asked her a useful question, "What seems to be the trouble?"

"It's an electric car. It just died. It's completely 'fricken' dead."

We nodded as if we knew what the fuck she was talking about. The mechanic in our group suggested to her that she open the hood and put on the emergency flashers; he'd take a look. It was useless. Nothing worked or even opened, and I mean absolutely NOTHING.

As I turned to walk back to my car, another gallant man moved closer. He blemished the personal space of that ruby-lipped lady and offered HIS professional advice. She waved her arms in the air and smiled.

I started my engine and headed for an escape through a little-known back alley. I also concluded โ€” I'm not ready for an electric vehicle until they get all the bugs out. Flashing lights from a tow truck momentarily blinded me as I paused to let it by. And that herd of men? They lingered; to supervise, I presumed.

.......................

Do they still make them like they used to?

What's the point of being a man if you can't start a car? ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ—โ—

I'd better hone my other skills, like plumbing and carpentry, and sex.

Back in the day, if a woman had a problem with her car, men would stop and lend a hand. You know, open the hood and fidget with the carburetor?

These days, I wouldn't have a clue what to do. Would you? ๐Ÿค”

Oh yeah, I'd call 'AAA'. (*CAA in Canada*)

I get what you're saying, but even so I have my eye on my next car and it's full electric. It won't be in the US until 2023 - hopefully the bugs are worked out by then.

The thing with cars and me is ; I need gas so that when the apocalypse hits, and the zombies are loose, I want a gas car, NOT electric. There's always an abandoned gas station somewhere. There won't be any power, when the shit will hit the fan. ๐Ÿ˜Žโ—

I always wondered about what happens when an all electric car dies. I would think there is plenty of warning as far as running out of juice to motor down the road, but what if a capacitor blows? Apparently the best thing to do would be to keep one's road hazard protection up to date. I just hope they are quick enough to save you from a pack of wolves.

Even with an internal combustion engine, cars now days are computer controlled and if it dies, good luck. Crank position sensors, oxygen sensors, fuel injection, all give information to to or receive information from the computer. No input, no output, no go.

Two hundred years ago, land transportation was simple -- on foot or draft animal vehicle, or riding animal.

I am pretty sure that all electric vehicles have a power gauge similar to a fuel gauge in an engine driven vehicle. The driver still needs to keep an eye on the energy left in order to plan on a "fill up". Now if the battery shorted out, that is a different issue.

Unless electric cars are charge with a renewable source, all they do is export the combustion pollutants to the electric plant, at a loss of efficiency for the transmission lines.

I could go back to the transportation of 150 years ago. My horses for local and a train or river boat for distance.

That's so true about today's gas cars": I'm lost when I open the hood. Well, not entirely; I know where the basics are, but you know what I mean.
Damn, what happened to the simple carburetor; I used to know how to take one of THOSE apart.

That woman in the E-car was clued out.

True, about renewable energy sources. We use hydro here โ€” supposedly renewable.
When the apocalypse hits โ€” we'll still have gas โ€” there will be NO electricity. I'm half-joking about that world crisis, but power is the first thing affected.

We can agree to disagree, but I feel like it's much more likely to get juice from a solar panel, windmill, or hydroelectric dam; than from an abandoned gas station that's already been worked over by other desperate people.

I watched an apocalypse movie a couple weeks ago, mainly because it featured an actor I like. What a stinker that movie was - you never found out what actually caused the apocalypse. "How It Ends" - avoid that movie at all costs.

No matter what a woman's transportation [through the centuries], offering help, is greatly about the reward of pussy , or a blowjob.

The nonsense of being polite, is usually a cloak hiding their true goal, but a taught "Cloak".

But what if one of those men, gawking and offering assistance, actually did know what he was doing, and how to fix her broken down vehicle, except he was NOT polite, maybe even a bit grumpy..... but he fixes her car.

The grumpy , not polite man, is more than likely to get some sort of invitation for some action, from her.

So a man does not need to be polite, just know what to do to fix something.

I read today that 1 in 5 drivers in California have returned to gasoline cars because their electric cars take up to 5 days to charge. The leg swing is almost an essential skill for women!

So your comment caused me to look up efficiencies. Infernal (tongue in cheek) combustion engines convert about 20 percent of the fuel energy into motion energy. Natural gas power plants are about 40 to 45 percent of the fuel into electrical energy. Transmission losses over the lines are about 5 percent (95 percent efficient) It appears that about 77 percent of the power used to charge an electric vehicle is converted to motion. So at best an EV converts about 33percent of the natural gas into motion; so about 65 percent more efficient than the ICE.

Solar panels and wind turbines and hydro also have environmental impacts as most use (or used) oil products during manufacturing and construction. That oil energy is repaid multiple times during the life cycle of the item. Solar panels seem to provide 9 times more energy than it takes to produce and install them and wind turbines 20 times more than production and installation.

The only issue that I see as a problem is the range on an EV for long trips. I think that they make perfect sense for commuters and even for me most of the time. That 300 mile trip to see relatives really stretches the range for me until there are more charging stations. And then there are the miles that I need for hauling horses with the truck. Maybe someday there will be an all electric heavy duty pickup that will fill that function.

Now an electric tractor that could rake and bale 10 acres of hay on a single charge would be the cat's meow.

A modern take on 'a damsel in distress'. When someone needs help, it shouldn't matter what gender they are. If I was in need, ideally 'anyone' who could assist, would offer their help. Conversely, I would also be so inclined. However, when it comes to cars, I could do nothing, except offer to call 9-1-1 or a family member depending on what the situation warranted.

individual vehicles of any sort are asinine.

Build ARCOLOGIES wherein people live, work, play and shop all within walking distance.
Bring Things to People, not People to Things.

Rail is exponentially more efficient than any car or truck. Safer also.
The auto is a con game fraud.

Why millions of separate engines or batteries when ONE system of rail and subway works better?

Sure, have taxis and a few delivery trucks, but the only sane transport is rail.

Read about how super efficient waterway CANALS were filled in under pressure from trucking and oil companies. Read about how GM destroyed the super cheap and super efficient cable car to create the FAIL of the highway system. Read about how highways DESTROYED American cities.

In the fictional 'zombie apocalypse', I concocted here, the details are ironed over. I only need the truck to get me to the complex, where the survivors are camped, which hopefully isn't far away.

If the Chinese succeeded with their mythical 'ray,' they'd be committing suicide. A billion people need to eat and they can't buy enough rice without the rest of the planet buying their shirts and pants and other stuff.

Oh being a lady do i have to know everything,i bit old fashioned in my beliefs, you men were put on earth to sort those technical things out us ladies could not figure out,so you saying in this modern world the hunky oily grease monkey that has come to my rescue many a time at the side of the road has now been replaced by a nerdy computer whizz kid who can fix a car from him being miles away oh my, think my damsel in distress days are over,no more knights in shining armour or come to that sexy grease monkeys who i would not mind being oiled over and serviced myself by them
Glad to hear that chivalry still lives... and loves... on your side of the pond.
It's come down to computer geeks, has it? ๐Ÿค” lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

TRUE STORY.
my last job was a hectic 26 mile one way commute that was about 1H in the AM and 2H in the PM as Atlanta is full of traffic.

i was in a gas guzzler but very comfortable vehicle.
i had the Volvo XC60 which is their crossover so basically an SUV on the sedan frame.
i was certain i would buy the Toyota Prius.
i drove to Toyota.
they had not noticed what i drove up in...
and they gave me the newbie saleswoman.

when i go car shopping i plan to buy.

so she admits she's all new to this...
and i tell her what i want to test drive.
we get to the 3 PRIUS' on the lot...
the one i am interested in will not unlock the door.
the key does nothing.
she goes back into the showroom to check she has the right key.
we're not sure why this won't unlock.

she asked if i want to test drive the other Prius.
i say sure but it's not the one i want to buy...
it's a decent test drive.

so she gets back to me.
turns out the one i wanted had a DEAD BATTERY.
and now they charged it.

i declined to come back to drive it.

as a single woman i cannot imaging trying to get my door to unlock and the car not only won't start but the doors won't unlock!

i have the V60 Sport AWD STATION WAGON!
this isn't the rectangle on wheels Cross Country.
this is an inch lower than the XC60 and has similar bodyline.
i have the space to haul groceries.
and it gets me the gas mileage of the S60 sedan.

but sometimes i walk up to it on it's side and think:
WOW! i really bought a station wagon!
what was i thinking?!

but scroll back to why i love it!
XO!

PS the V60 Cross Country Station wagon is the only vehicle in the 60 series i have not owned. i loved the look and seats in the XC60 but the mileage was like 13-14mpg.
