Friday Farm Day
Friday Farm Day Yeah, I know I don't live on a farm, but I like the alliteration, it just rolls off the tongue...doesn't it? Exciting things are happening in the garden! Well, exciting to . ![]() First up, we have San Marzano Tomatoes. I'm so excited to make pasta sauce with these ![]() Next up, check it out, my peas are podding. I'll be eating fresh peas soon! ![]() Then we have my passion fruit starting to vine up the palm with the help of a grate I nailed t o it. ![]() ![]() Finally, I'm super excited to see these purple peppers. Purple peppers, for those who don't know, are sweet peppers from what I've been told. Though I have yet to taste them, I'm stoked to try! ![]() Again, though I know I keep repeating this, this is my first year successfully growing any food and I'm doing it without pesticides or fertilizers beyond compost from seed. Gardening, I now contend, is a skill that can be learned....even when you're an advanced middle aged person such as myself. ![]() Happy Friday Farm Day All Reposted first comment cuz grammar gremlins This week's HNW: Pink/Hearts (Or Chocolate) is available on the other side. |

I was not able to pick a peck of pickled peppers this year. Production was quite low. The purple ones had the most fruit, but they were so small they were no good for stuffing, and it was difficult to even slice them for other things. Looks like there was, and is, a lot of sex going on in that garden of yours. Never heard of purple peppers. I wish you joy in the eating and the pleasure of making it come about. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well. ![]()

Great looking garden! Up here in these parts garden season usually runs from mid-May through September. I start my peppers and tomatoes from seed indoors in mid-March so they're ready for planting outside when the when the weather and ground is warm enough. I don't use fertilizer either, I mulch the plants with fresh grass clippings from mowing my lawn. Good luck with yours.

Anything that can roll off the tongue is a good thing indeed! Thrilled to see your garden and the successful bounty. My father has been tending to a garden here filled with tomatoes, peppers (Bell, Jalapeño and Serrano), okra, and a leafy one called Saluyot. Also naturally grown. I have a black thumb so I leave it to him. Lol My name is MrWrong and I approved this comment
