Are we all just holding on to the handle as we ride the hand basket to hell? I often wonder. Sane adults believing in lies as if they were truths, and vice versa. I ask myself when did things get so off kilter? When did we loose our way? Was there some key moment in time when sticking our heads in the sand became the cool and popular thing to do?

Watching the news last night, a story about a severe drought ... domesticated animals as well as wild ones dropping like flies for lack of water. People digging in the sand and pulling up buckets of muck just to get a drink for their stock, and most importantly their families. Naturally with no water to drink tempers among friends and neighbors has become flared. Thievery and gun violence have become the norm and has actually increased in the region.

I just don't understand it some times? It's not like we can't see this happening, all we need to do is look. Yet their are still some who say climate change isn't real.

While shopping for food last night, I was astounded as to how bare the shelves were. Items normally on display and so abundant that the store would normally be having non advertised / in store sales of the stuff. Don't get me started on the pricing. What would have cost me so much a few months or a year ago has almost doubled in cost.

Now in what feels like the umpteenth wave of a Virus Pandemic there are still some folks out there who think that it's nothing but a stronger form of the flu. Nothing to worry about, no need to get the vaccine shots. Yet hospitals are being over run again, ICU beds becoming scarce. One blog I read was touting how the vaccines were nothing more than something being pushed on us to perhaps control us some how? Pointing out the side affects and what could happen if we opted to get the shots. Yeah, there are always possible side affects to any drug. Welcome to modern medicine my friend. Where sometimes the cure or preventive treatment could be worse than the medical problem itself. Emphasize the word possible here people, just because it could happen doesn't mean that it will happen. Should they occur let your doctor or health provider know..so they can take steps to assist you and correct the issue. That is after all why they let us know what the side affects may be after all.

Sorry for the rant people, I know it's not what I usually write about on the weekends. But sitting here in this basket holding on to the handle as I slowly decent to the nether regions. I'm not liking the view very much. It struck me to maybe talk to some of the other passengers sitting next to me to get their take on all of this. Am I the only one whos seeing this? Or are we all just to busy listening to the falsehoods that are being spread ?

I'm off to work now....

As an unwilling fellow passenger, I must protest the destination unless we're going to Hell, Michigan, where I've always wanted to visit. Otherwise, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride and the view. I don't believe in the destination (aka Hell) so I'll treat this as a very long yet entertaining tour of the planet along the endless Conspiracy Theory Boulevard. Who's steering this thing, anyway?

Those with their head in the sand can join those with their blinders and rose-colored glasses on and those with their heads up their collective asses and continue to ignore the cold, hard facts: hospitals overrun again, ICUs are filling up, there are shortages of health care workers, COVID testing sites are overrun with folks wanting to get tested, mental and psychological health has been and continues to be affected for millions of people, and our economy irrevocably changed, among other things.

And yet, they believe crap like this: the government is exaggerating the number of COVID-19 deaths by counting deaths due to other factors, pregnant women should not get the COVID-19 vaccine, the vaccine has been shown to cause infertility, you can get COVID-19 from the vaccine, and IVERMECTIN is a safe and effective treatment for COVID-19, among other fallacies.

I think some people are too busy listening to the falsehoods being spread. Sadly, unvaccinated adults and Republicans are among those most likely to hold misconceptions. Democrats trust COVID-19 information from network (72 and local (66 television, CNN (65, MSNBC (56 and NPR (51. Republicans’ most trusted news sources for COVID-19 information are Fox News (49, local (34 and network (25 news, and Newsmax (22. Are we in Hell yet? I wanna stop at the Welcome sign and get a few pictures.

I felt we were descending into Idiocracy many years ago. Long before Covid.
