Can Bouzouki MelodieS and GallonS of WhinE... SavE A DatE... ðŸĪ”❗

Her brilliant smile and those twinkling eyes had been the alluring snare. I have no CLUE what she saw in me. But there we were, anchored at a vibrant Greek bistro over on Montreal's Fairmount Street.

Thin beams of porcelain light framed every table. We sat cloaked in warm shadows, over at the back of that cheerful room. Bouzouki music weaved lively rhythms and bounced off pastel murals as our black-tied waiter ambled over and raised his pen to his pad. SHE, paused her incoherent rant, and with slurred consideration — announced her order.

"I'll take the 'Seafood Pikilia' and a tiny 'Greek Salad' with a small bowl of tzatziki, on the side. Oh, and I'll have another bottle of white wine. But don't serve the meal just yet."

Then, she turned to me and flashed those luminous teeth; I grinned.

"You want some too?
Ok — TWO bottles of white wine," she concluded.

And THAT'S how our first date had evolved. I excused myself and headed towards the bathroom but veered into the kitchen. (*listen, I'm not a total asshole, but I'd had enough.*) I waved to the cooks, laid a couple of twenties on the stainless steel counter, and walked out the back door.

Slipping through that dark alley, I turned towards the street and reached into my blazer for my phone. For fuck's sake! In my haste, I'd left THAT precious hardware on the leather bench seat — back at the restaurant.

I stopped in my tracks and turned around.

She DID have dazzling incisors and those gleaming eyeballs. But there was more whine coming; a lot more. *Ugh* Second chances rarely work — or do they?

(*addendum : so what do you want me to say? that things worked out; they didn't.
it was a peaceful failure. *)

................

The Greeks invented the orgy but the Romans added women.

A warm smile and sparkling eyes — are the first traits attracting me. THAT, and a quick wit.
I think there's always hope for a second chance if there's some mutual attraction. 😊
(*if she has a nice bum, it's a bonus.*)

The 'deal breakers' for me are; a conflicting political POV, and a fickle food veto.
NO second chances on THOSE! ðŸ˜Ū

One of the last people I was strongly attracted to, had great conversational skills. Lots of give and take, a good listener, and convincingly curious about me and what made me tick. Too often it seems like people fall into one of the other extremes - either so reticent that it's like pulling teeth to get them talking, or one of those nonstop talkers where you can't get a word in edgewise.

I'm always attracted to a great smile ... if he has dimples BONUS! needless to say bad teeth (not necessarily crooked but broken, missing, diseased) are a deal breaker.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I take daily walks around the lakes and parks and rivers of this town and since the masks have come down, it's a shocker to see what, some of the people I've been speaking with actually look like.
I imagine, they're shocked with my LOOK à a well.

'... convincingly curious...'? So he faked it? ðŸĪ” He musta been good to pull wool — over YOUR eyes.

So true about the art of having a conversation. I think I've been guilty of all three styles, although my preference is 'content' as opposed to silence.

Don't most people fear silence, and that's why they blather? ðŸĪ”

Yep, I can see that. Unfortunately I can see that clearly. Funny, but teeth strike me before eyes do. Although, I don't know about you, but with that BUG and masks, I was evaluating people from the bridge of the nose — up.

Imagine the surprise when that mask is lifted?

You make such a good point. Implants are the latest craze. As long as I don't end up looking like one of those old people jutting jaw, with the oversized teeth of a twenty year old.
Hmmm...

Anyway... Any loose or messed up teeth? ðŸĪ”

Sounds like my last meet before the Pandammit.......
She had been at the restaurant awhile before I got there, three empty's on the table..... Two more while we waited for our food.
Then she toppled out of her chair, the waiter caught her! Ah..this happens often., he says! Hmmmmm, didn't see that in her profile......
What do u do, the wait staff had it handled
I left $40 on the table...
Having to drag them to the room kinda takes the edge off....
As I got in my truck I heard EMS turning the corner......

No, emails and texts don’t fool me. They provide the writer the ability to pause and edit (but we both know how easy it is for some to fail to do that). Switching over to a phone call validates/verifies my first impression.

I meet one guy from here and the whole entire time I was trying to have a conversation with him at the restaurant, he was on his cell phone the whole entire time. I just looked at him and I stopped talking. If I had my cell phone that night I would have called a friend to pick me up. What a jerk.
He must have a good sense of humor, good kisser especially French, a nice arse
My dislikes, cell phone, a small dick, not at all passionate, smoker, a Drunk
I could go on and in but I will leave it at that

For me, dealbreakers can be divided into two categories:

1) She seems like a good person and is probably quite interesting but there is no spark there. We can be friends but I'm pretty instantly aware there isn't a possibility of anything else.

2) She is not a good person and I can't spend the hour or so it will take to have a polite meal without it being too painful to contemplate.

I understand where you're coming from.
I occasionally encounter that THIRD option.
You know, the one where she's fooled me for a whole meal, we get to the after dinner drinks — and she shares with me her theory and belief that the moon landing was faked.

Turn offs: no chemistry, no conversation, too pushy, bad breath.
