How do YOU cook your turkey??

Need some turkey tips folks!!

This girl isn't the best cook and I've cooked very few turkeys on my own.... But I'm attempting it on my own this year. Asking in advance so I can create a plan for tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

    "Honey Baked Ham"

    they have turkey and ham

    and gravy

    hmm, hmm, tastes good

    reminded me of this

Cledus T. Judd - "Bake Me a Country Ham"

I was sitting there, with my fork in hand
Staring at my lousy ravioli can
As she walked right in and said to me
Is there any way that I can make your day complete
I told her if there's anyway you can
Could you grease up that old metal roasting pan
And bake me a country ham
Honey glazed with a side of yams
Leave it in till it's golden brown
    Pineapples all the way around
Let the sweet smell fill the air
Serve it to me in my underwear
I'm tired of eating imitation Spam
Could you bake me a country ham
Yum.... I like honey baked ham too.

Yes, I was referring to the TV dinner. LOL. As for me, I am headed to Cheboygan tomorrow.
I usually do non traditioal stuff... Last year I had a roast. I'm feeling a little nervous about this one.

I have done that.... My first thanksgiving after my divorce, actually. I had to work and it was just me.

Make sure the bird is thawed. You should have taken it out Friday from the freezer and left it in the frig. Then figure out 2o minutes per pound at 350 degrees to cook it. So a 10 pound turkey will take just over 3 hours. If you are smart you'll get one of the birds with a pop stick that will pop out when the bird is done making you look like a pro. The bags do help keep it moist and juicy. Clean out the turkey, and remove the plastic. I do a rub like a chicken. I've never done the brine soak (Way too much salt for my liking). And enjoy.
I did take it out Friday. A coworker told me she makes hers with bacon, have you ever tried that? I plan on picking a bag up today after work....

My ex-husband used to do a lot of the cooking.... He would always cook the turkey. I don't work and have the kids this year so I thought I would get traditional. Ugh.... I should have started smaller.
