The Unveiling Of The Alpha Female

What my research has found:
What about the Alpha Male counterpart? Some say she's only been captured in a mere snapshot......a still image. Others say she's only a legend, an enigma like the unicorn, the mermaid or the dragon.
The concept of alpha female barely existed. Strange, considering that this remarkable woman is as old as the alpha male himself.
Let's put aside history for her story. Allow me to introduce you to the stuff legends are made of: The Alpha Female.
There's a good chance that you know an Alpha Female, and there's also a good chance that you don't like her. You might respect her, but being liked by others is certainly not on the top of her to-do list.
Some major traits of a Alpha Female:
1. She's strong-minded. If she's got a plan, she won't quit until it's the plan.
2. She'll take charge.
3. She's a loner. She is not dependent on friends or family for motivation, encouragement, or camaraderie. Her moxy comes from within.
4. She's not a stereotypical nurturer. She's got people for that.
5. She always has her eye on a prize -- always looking to the next project. If no goal has presented itself to her, she'll create one.
6. She's not afraid to threaten. Though the threat may not be accompanied by the baring of teeth or the "cat fight" stance, she will make it very clear that she is not to be tampered with. She will not flinch at eliminating anyone who stands in the way of her goals.
7. She has lofty standards. Not only does the alpha female measure her own achievements with a yardstick that's about 5 ½ feet long, she assesses others' achievements in the same manner.
8. She won't stand for argument. "Talk to the hand" should be the alpha female's mantra, because she's not going to engage herself in lengthy arguments about the principles of her ideals. She's right. Get used to it.
9. Personal success dominates her life. The alpha female will usually gauge her success in terms of how many she's landed or how many acronyms tail her name.
10. She's competitive. Often obsessed with being the best, she won't be ashamed to admit she's "out for blood."
11. She's a natural leader. Others will logically look to her in times of turmoil.
12. She views other women in a dim light. Though the alpha female recognizes that she's not male, she also sees herself as a sort of enhanced woman, rejecting the attributes that are typically considered to be feminine (sensitive, nurturing, delicate).
13. She's sweet when she has to be. The alpha female has charm, and she knows how, and when, to turn it on. The method of conquering isn't important to her…but the resulting power is.
I was also wondering so did a little bit more research, why the Alpha Male is celebrated. The Alpha Female is rarely consider or even mentioned or identified. The Alpha Female has been condemned or even punished. The trait listed above aren't undesirable in the business industry, but they can hinder a woman in a relationship.

Throughout most of the history of mankind, the female has been valued for her reproductive capacity. Attraction factors of the female body that are considered beautiful today are hold overs from when men chose women for their -bearing and -rearing fitness (small waists, wide pelvic floors, wide hips, short arms, large breasts).
Keeping this evolutionary attraction factor in mind, consider the problems that alpha female behavior might pose for yesterday's (and even today's) average woman:

1. Because the alpha female harbors a fear of being lumped together with the rest of the weak females, she'll avoid falling into traditional wife, mother, and nurturer roles.
2. If the alpha female has already established a family, she'll likely spend less time with her than the average wife and mother. Because of this, she may have to endure "bad mother" accusations.
3. Because the alpha female is strong, opinionated, and unlikely to endure compromise, men may either avoid her or withdraw from her (particularly beta males, who typically experience increased stress in the face of confrontation).
4.For reasons that are probably already obvious, marriage can be difficult for the alpha female. A noted exception makes itself known in the case of an alpha female marrying an alpha male. He'll likely be one of the few people she'll willingly concede to.
5. Often, many of the alpha female's relationships are notably devoid of emotion. She'll maintain ties that promote success, but will rarely form any type of relationship for the sake of love or comradeship alone.
6. Because the alpha female has difficulty forging strong personal bonds, she'll likely spend much of her life feeling lonely, even if she's surrounded with people.

Will add more from my research at a later date.

I don't know that I'd characterize those traits as a label "alpha woman".

What I will say is that those traits are universally disdained by popular culture because women aren't celebrated when they take on masculine traits.

Men are supposed to be that way.

Women?

Not so much.

Not only that, but men aren't attracted to those qualities in a female.

That's why the so-called "alpha female" isn't desired.

Excuse me but it sound's like you are living in the 1920 women have evolved beyond that. I know some women who work in a "man's world" as they put it that do not have masculine trait and are all woman. Even though they can do a job that is suppose to be a man's job so to speak. The Alpha Female can do basically what a man can do and dress to kill doing it. If men are not attracted to them that is there problem and loss. Some men are intimated by the Alpha Female cause she oozes confident and lets people know it.

You just described my wife to a "T".

She always exhibited some of those traits but in the last few months ALL have developed.

I love her, and respect and admire her but... Things are currently "rocky"...

It appears that JohnC1902 makes the case for me.

Men aren't attracted to women who try to be men.

You can try to redefine what being woman means, but those traits that society deems to be masculine will always be associated with masculinity.

Dominant men don't waste time with women who think they are men.

Not when there are plenty of soft, feminine submissives around to play with.

You will learn......

He doesn't make your case at all you are just say that to justify the way you think has you even looked outside and seen the females out there or are you just looking at yourself. I know it's your opinion but come look out side your own little world.

What he's saying is that these characteristics are a turn-off in his marriage.

I have not known many women who are what you describe.

The few I have known were lesbians, and the others were ignored by men because of their attitude/demeanor.

I've lived both inside the military and civilian worlds, and I would say that gender norms are idealized for a reason.

Good luck with what you're selling.

Is it impossible to be feminine, soft and nurturing, and at the same time be successful in the business world dominated by men? Inquiring minds....

It is not impossible to be feminine, soft or nurturing even when your working in a man's world. Men do not like it very much when a woman can do his job or is even better then him at it. This my opinion on the subject. All I am saying is the Alpha woman can be out there and still be feminine but work in a man's world.

Why not?

I kinda like women who have a testosterone driven drive (long as they don't have beards)...... Now THAT is a wrassling partner!

There is nothing more delightful than a woman who challenges a man to be a man.

Alphas step up, betas step away, omegas make them insane.
