Grow the Fuck Up Already

I had a long taxing Saturday and needed all of Sunday to recover from spending an entire day surrounded by a bunch of fucking grown up men that still believe that buying toys is a quality investment for themselves.

These guys walk up and look around at my artwork and items, then launch into this long rant about how Disney is attaking their poor fragile sensibilities by making super hero and sci i movies that don't speak to them. At first, i just chuckle and dismiss their rant, but after five guys come up and start bitchng about the same thing. I get impatient and i let my real opinions out without as much regard for their feelings as they have for mine. I'll cut them off in mid sentence and declare,

Star Wars has been and always will be a movie for 6 year olds. You're 49 , you have 1,500 dollars worth of action figures and no woman to tell you to zip up your pants. Being angry about Star Wars is just misdirected anger about you not being able to move away from your own childhood.

Star Trek sucks and always will. The older guys will try to give you their manifesto about why the 1963 show is still vastly superior to the new movies despite having none of the required science for a science fiction show. As Captain Kirk, William Shatner was a joke of masculinity and bravado that ran and punched like a woman with a purse. The stories were fucking stupid too, anyone who can sit through the episode, Spock's Brain, just is not being intellectually honest with themselves.

The fact that these guys just want to hang around my table and spit out vitriol about everything that they are there to worship is just exhausting. Aside from that, i kick them away from my table if they start harrassing the women there dressed up like Sailor Moon or whatever character in tight spandex. My advice to them is, Act like you have seen a woman before Instead of blurting out the most inappropriate thing that makes a woman recoil and leave my table without buying something.

These guys are EVERY WHERE!

Nothing will appease these dateless nerds.

The show, The Big Bang Theory, gives Incel nerds the wrong idea about how to approach women. All of these stupid out of shape, pimple faced weaklings think that if they pursue an attractive woman long enough, that she will eventually concede and fall madly in love with them...

...or slap them with a restraining order.

They never consider showering, or expanding their world view to include something other than an encyclopedic knowledge of comic books, and television shows. They never put any effort into doing their own laundry and smelling like a moldy old towel is perfectly fine for them.

These guys are fucking LAZY. But somehow, supposed to feel entitled to sit with them and listen to their bullshit about how women just don't get them.

But the asshole when i tell them the truth.

Grow the fuck up.

Anyway, here i with the Starship, The Millennium Galactica from the show, Space 1999.

Hmmm... Interesting..
I was starting to think, that I was the only person on the planet, who cringed, whenever I'd notice another Star Wars flic, on TV, for the two hundredth time. Y did it take 3 hrs , for Luke (and the rest of us), to figure out that the person he wanted to fuck - was actually... his sister? To name but one, poorly written plot twist.
The Big Bang bust, is something that I can't bring up - with some people, so I no longer bother... seeing them.
The Trek pov, well... 2 out of 3 is. .. whatever. I did like some, of the writing.
In first world countries, where people compare the quality of their lives, by their capacity to binge watch someone else's stuff (for 48 hrs on a weekend), I guess it's no surprise, that people look at me strangely - when I tell them that I barely, have basic cable... Never mind Netflix or Crave.. or whatever..
But... I like to stray from discussions of politics, or religion. This is as close as I'll get.
It was just a button, that I brushed up against, when I read your thoughts.

I don't have cable either. Otherwise, i might never leave the couch.
I think everything is good in moderation, and i just watch whe i can.
You might want to watch out with my blog though, my next post is going to be called, Humpty Trumpty Wanted a Wall.

I admit I liked Star Trek from the 60s, but then I was in High School. Now, collecting a whole lot of nerdy stuff may be fun and is okay be me IF one keeps aware that it IS fantasy with virtually no connection with real life. Fun to retreat into for a bit but not a place worth living in. Unfortunately it seems there are way too many out there that have no clue.
As you said, Grow the Fuck Up!

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

I'm a really big nerd. Captain Kirk was my first hero and i still love Star Wars.
I'm with you too, i enjoy them for what they are but there other things in life to enjoy. But if it no longer brings me joy, i leave it alone and refuse to complain.

Gee - I thought for sure your picture was the Millennium Falcon. My nerdom must be getting rusty.

I enjoy Star Wars and Star Trek. I liked Space1999 and Sailor Moon, too. I like Marvel movies and Harry Potter......but I don't live my life around them. I will admit to owning a baby Groot bobblehead.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I just like to call something by the wrong name because it sets them off.

Okay, so you mentioned Harry Potter and I read the books after the entire series was published. What I loved about that series is the literacy and the themes within each story matured along with the readers.. Everything also ties into each other in a such a way that J.K. Rowling looked like a genius at the end when everything wrapped up with no loose ends or stray sub plots.

As for my nerdom, I think it used to be edgy and solid, but now it's like a smooth river stone.

The Big Bang theory is my all time favourite show,,, I know most of the lines!!
I have a different view point, I think it shows that the nerdy/shy/underdog CAN get the girl of his dreams, and that there is a match for everyone....
I'm still waiting for MY match!
I watched all the Star Wars films over Christmas, in periodical order, so the prequels first and I thought they were quite good... none of them matched the original 1976 version even with all the CGI and special effects!... they are what they are... but I do agree that men nearing 50 should not be ranting about what is ultimately a kids/family film

I heard that there is a,way to watch all six of movies where you watch Episodes 3 and 4, but after Empire you switch to watch Episodes 2 and 3 as flashbacks on Vader's life then watch Episode 6 as the redemption of Vader.

I love my sci fi and admit I have watched all those shows and I am not embarrassed to say so. I dont watch comedies... so have never really watch Big Bang theory. I enjoy tv and movies hate commercials so Netflix works for me. I will also admit to us having a BB8 and Baby Groot in the house, however they belong to my child. Its entertainment, a way to shut off my brain, can't say I have ever gotten into a philosophical debate about any of those shows.

CynicusMaximus replies on 1/14/2019 1:00 pm:
I can talk about those subjects for DAYS.

I just don't want to waste my time with people who just want to try to convince me that everything sucks about it.
I have a two foot Darth Vader and whenever those guys start whining about how terrible everything is. I pull out that Darth Vader and ask them to show me where George Lucas touched their childhoods. I usually have to turn the Darth Vader around and lift the cape for them to point to his butt.
