"...how something that began so soft and cuddly, could morph into something so stiff and hard in such a short time."

Do you really have to ask?

Nothing like the good ole days when your mom hung them out in the sun to luxuriate in the warmth of its rays and the cool air.

I'm not worried what someone may or may not write about the/this site, Jules. If they don't, I''m sure someone else will. Perhaps they will write it more from a business perspective, like how much money they made from it, as opposed to a 'Tell all' type writing naming names etc.

I too have been staying close to home these past few years. It's hard when you know it's out there waiting for you, yet in the big picture, still not the best of times. *sigh*

As far as your towels go.... I do the laundry here so I can only speak for my experiences and those passed down from my Mother..... Never EVER use fabric softener when washing towels! Not even the fabric sheets. The reason for this is that it makes the fabric LESS absorbent.

Use less detergent than you think you really need. Do not over stuff the washer/load. Better to do two smaller loads. Wash on a gentle cycle. Always shake out the towels before drying. Dry on very low temperature or line dry. (best to alternate) . Shake again after drying and fold to store.

It also helps when you start off with a better quality towel..... *grins*

Here I hang laundry on a line to dry then when dry into the dryer to loosen em up. Because who don't like em loose.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I know how to pound some softness into those towels.

Nice and hard...and crispy.....

...wait are we talking about roast potatoes? is this now a cooking site?

.....any book anyone might write, from a site owner's perspective will depend where their intentions lie - are they looking at how they dreamt of a sexual paradise, a utopia of validation and sharing, when they created the site - then likely it will be a tale of disillusionment and naivety lost.....

.....if it is about the profits to be made from creating and maintaining such a business site, then considering the, apparent, constant shrinkage in patronage the book will be a tale of disillusionment and hard lessons in business learnt.....

.....if the book were to be about the people on the site, then I am not sure if that would even translate into a book form - and it would simply end up with a conclusion that we are all human for better and worse, and that, perhaps, like the ancient Greek Gods our best and worst human characteristics were amplified by the site.

I just love the soft to hard morph....yup...love it i do. Ohhhh....are we speaking of towels...ah well....we just deal with lifes little inconveniences.

As far as Andrew and the site...yup...nothing online is private. Time will tell..i guess.

Yup...we just deal....and keep it moving~~

You might want to check the hardness of your water. High mineral content tends to take the "fluffy" out of fabrics pretty quickly.

If Andrew writes english like he apparently writes code. . . ~sigh!~

I love how the site gremlins say "no way" to the word book!!! wtf?

I find that if I put fabric softener in with my towels... they become water repellent and just push it around on my skin. Then again, I grew up with towels dried on the clothesline and those things could stand on their own after a day in the sun.

If you've been home all this while and obviously online, why haven't you educated yourself more instead of listening to all the mass media mania? I haven't changed my everyday life not one iota. I don't wear a mask. Never got the DNA genetic altering jab. I have increased my vitamin D3 dosage to 3 pills instead of two. Take zinc and turmeric and other stuff like nitric oxide for healthy blood. If you have a good immune system then there is very little to be worried about.... if you have no comorbidities. FINALY, in the most recent news release CDC has now admitted that 96% of all deaths listed as COVID deaths had at least 3 comorbidites. If you are not obese, do not have overly hyper anxiety about the *virus*, don't have any blood or heart problems, you are good to go! The absolute worse thing you can do is stay home. I do not know if you are a reader but you should go to your local library and check out the book VIRUS MANIA. Educate yourself and relax and enjoy your life.

I’m not sure about the fabric softener conspiracy, but whenever I go to the grocery store the packages of food are smaller with less food in them. Maybe in a way it’s a good thing because many people eat too much junk food. I think you might want to use liquid detergent that also works as a fabric softener as well. I’m actually allergic to those fabric softener sheets. I heard that the sheets repel mosquitoes as well.

Funny women are incredibly sexy!

Don't use softener...ever and stop buying Brillo brand towels.

Come to my house, where the towels are always soft and fluffy.

He’s got a treasure trove of material here to mine, after all every single thing posted to this site become property of the site.

All those you don’t have permission to repost notices that people post in their profiles are worthless and unenforceable, what you see here is already their property per TOS.

Oh, one will never know the original mission. Maybe to conclude by writing a book? Everyone else seems to want to write about others in a tell all tale.

I grew up with hard towels. They were, like others stated, hung out to dry. Opps, I used the word hung and dry.. *S*

Hi there Jules..... as to your hardness....
my grandmother always washed her towels separately (only other towels with towels). Also - she'd put a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar in place of fabric softener. Also - try one of those dryer balls when tumbling dry... that could help you in attaining hardness ONLY when desired and not with your towels. Cheers!

….and just like that a new viral phenomenon was created…. based on the whimsical insights of the lovely Ms. Verona , gentlemen the world over are crawling into the clothes dryer is hopes of achieving said hardness …. If it’s even remotely successful it’s a given that she will be offered a lucrative book deal…. and dryer sales will not. E able to keep up with demand…. Carpe diem ….

Quoting: Speaking of unfolding and folding... (like my segue there? wink)
Thank you so much for the little info laundry lesson. I am definitely guilty of overstuffing the washer, thinking that I'm conserving water? No? No. lol.

Yes, over stuffing the washer can contribute to your problems and No, you are not really saving any water or energy doing two smaller loads as opposed to one big one.

And I am a bit of a towel and linen snob, softness and cotton threadcount are an imperative. Which is why its infuriating when the towels get hard! grrr.

So if the quality of the towels is there at the beginning of their life span, then perhaps it could be the quality or hardness of the water in your local area. Water filtration system would solve some of these issues. *hugs*

I'm not really sure what the market for this book will be, but if there is one, then I suppose its success or otherwise will depend partly on how well it is written. But it won't be easy to make it a success - sadly not many books sell a lot of copies these days unless they are written by celebrities.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - unless they go really hard and scratchy I quite like older towels - I don't like the way the fluff from new ones and sticks to me, and I quite like the scrubbing feel of a nice old well washed towel on my skin!

Noooooooo! I said UNLESS they go too hard and scratchy! I just like them a bit rougher than absolutely brand new is all I meant, and I really am talking about after-wash comfort here, nothing at all to do with BDSM!

At least your towels are dry...power went off in the snow storm yesterday...I don't have enough candles to dry them with...waiting for another day, patiently for the power to return...learn a lot about the feed back, specially about not using fabric softener...

Hugs, Jules. Coco Chanel believed a hard towel was the quickest and easiest way to exfoliate one's body. Me, I prefer them to be soft and fluffy, too!
