Have You Noticed Less Fakes?
Have You Noticed Less Fakes? |

We voted no, but not because we see a lot of fakes. We'd noticed significant improvement since before March 26. Any improvement since March 26 is only noise in the longer term trend.

We noticed less fakes, but there are still the real people that have their profile on Heated Affairs and are to afraid to meet. So is that still considered to be fakes????

Hello,I have noticed a percentage that have been deleted however that does not mean the problem has totally gone. Please come check out my blog [blog roxy37sexy] invite you to check it out. you can also check out my profileroxy37sexy Please come and join my group captivating cams.Captivating Cams Dare you com in my blog.

I think this question pertains more to the men. I haven't noticed many fakes on my blog, or in profiles.
| |||
|
We get plenty cruising through the FL room. That's not even including the women and men pretending to be someone they're not. Nothing you can do about random jackasses. The only thing I HAVE to do is eat, shit, and die. Everything else is a choice.

|
Keep it up man, I'm still getting marriage proposals from caucasian chicks residing in Ghana, looking for a guy who is honest, loving and a soul mate...I happen to be neither in all respects
| |||
|
nice work- have you looked into the idea of requiring cell phone text message to confirm new accounts ? this would prevent a single person from creating many fake accounts. This would be so simple to implement and is very effective method of validating who someone is and in your case, preventing multiple signups.

The only true way to stop most of these spammers, scammers, and fake profiles is to isolate and ban their IPs from accessing the site. In the case of those from Africa, sans Ghana and the like, is to cut those country's ISPs off completely. Your IT crew should have no problem in accomplishing this.

Hiya Ryan, I do not know if my moaning has inspired this attempt but this is what I talked about in e-mails with you... it is not that I expected to snap my fingers and fake profiles to be fixed, I just wanted to know some answers to the questions I asked and to have a visible site reaction to fake profiles as they seem to create profiles with impunity. I have voted 'no'... the reason for this is because there are so many! I have noticed more photo-fake profiles, where obvious soft porn shoot pictures are used. I have noticed our friend who creates profiles with a suggestive name followed by a jumble of numbers is still present but has changed aspects of their profile creation (i.e. used to use same local information and age - 23, well now the local information is less consistent and the age is now 20, the profiles continue to be produced) and I can still spot African posing as Anglo-saxon profiles (women who are looking for 'the one', whose syntax is bad and likes ridiculous things and is 'a good god fearing woman'). I have noticed a large increase in the number of winks that I get from Australia, Phillipines, Ukraine, Russia, American fake - which is 18-23 year olds who come from LA area and seem pretty interested in me. One reason why I can say that I have not been able to find fake profiles as easily is because my home page has changed. I now have a 'Whats on your mind?' box... which appears only to me (where does that get displayed where other people other than me can see it?). This has been introduced at the expense of 'My New Matches'... which used to display profiles that were, approx, 75% fake. The... er... fight(?) against fake profiles and their prolificacy means that a weeks effort by the site probably would not make much of a dent, the rot has been allowed to go on too long, however I do not care... I am happy, because the start has been made and it is good that the site has listened and started to react and if this effort that you talk of can be continued then we might start getting somewhere. Thanks. LT.

One reason why I can say that I have not been able to find fake profiles LESS easily... is what I meant.

About the two comments of "are people who are afraid to meet fakes too?" and "people that don't answer emails/flirts are fakes". Guess what.. because I get OVER 100-150 messages A DAY and MOST haven't even READ my profile... i.e. the married men/out of state and country men/and guys that want to shove crap up my ass men... ALL send me stuff and I REFUSE to fuck married out of state/coutry men that want to shove something up my butt men.. DOES NOT MAKE ME FAKE!! There are some very SCAREY PEOPLE out there and we DO have reason to be cautious on meeting people!!! Please.. feel free to read my blogs and see just how RUDE some of these so called 'real men' are when we take the time to POLITELY say "no thank you" and they get all p*ssy then because they feel 'entitled' to screw me because this is a 'sex site' or at least that is their normal answer. Because someone does NOT WISH to be slammed again for a 'no thank you'.. because someone does not feel obligated to say "HEY.. my profile says NO to married men" or whatever the preference is because personally.. I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME to answer 150 emails A DAY....and should not HAVE TO repeat 'no married men' and give them a personal rejection... does NOT make me or anyone else fake. Seriously.. nothing says we 'have to put out' in order to be real. If you were a door to door salesman and no one was home, would you sit on the porch and wait for them to get there only to be told no thank you?? or would you go to the next house and continue on?? It doesn't make anyone FAKE!! Here are the blogs.. please feel free to take a look for yourself. Again.. I don't think that some of the crappiest emails SENT deserve answers if all they can say is "I will f*ck you".... which is a major part of the messages women get on here. #1...Best Complimentary Emails wupdates #2...Emailslame, boring, or just plain stupidwupdates #3...A polite No Thank You can cause thiswupdates #4...Unsolicited HATE Emails no prior contactwupdates I am NOT angry, but I do feel that most men don't get what the women have to go through on here with the pressure to put out because of the way this site advertises. A box full of dick shots (which all look the same after the first hour) and "wanna f*ck" is NOT a real attention getter when that is the majority of all we get. I KNOW seriously that the men have a VERY hard time on here as well. I DO feel for you. But honestly, meeting and getting laid are NOT a factor in if someone is REAL and no one should feel pressured or obligated to meet and/or f*ck ANYONE on here.

AS FOR THE INCREASE IN THE FLIRTS SITUATION I.E. GHANA GIRLS... I will again (sorry) repeat that much of this CAN be cut down if you can give US the option to our flirts/invites. Right now they are just anyone and everyone can send them to anyone and everyone. If you give the options to have these choices.. A - Accept all flirts. B - Accept only flirts that match my Cupid Settings. C - Do not accept any flirts. I do believe it WILL help. I mean, if someone has their cupid settings set up so it narrows it down to receive messages from only what they are interested in.. why then would you NOT want your flirts to be the same? I honestly can say that I am not happy with 70 year old men wishing to have me... so they are blocked out by the cupid settings. I would think that they should NOT be allowed to flirt with me either and it should be connected to the cupid settings as well. IF you have this in place, men can actually then choose B and have their cupid settings say not to accept them from people outside a certain distance and it would totally cut OUT those from overseas i.e. GHANA!!

Nope Ryan, still seeing them, without the numbers on their handles, but that is a dead giveaway. Things like a picture of a black woman saying their Caucasian on their profile, and vice versa. Other stuff too. Still a lot of weeding to do. You should give people points or something for reporting them, to give some incentive to use our time to do so.
| |||
|
And another thing, I have reported obvious fake handles in the advice line that have their profiles turned off, that harass people. They are mainly voting handles also, and the only time it has ever done any good for me to report one, is when one of them made the mistake of stealing my picture and used it on one of their fake handles. Other than that it was a waste of my time in doing it obviously because those same handles I've reported are still active so to speak, but like I said, their profiles are turned off. Give us an incentive to report, and then really look at it. Other than that I won't waste my time in doing it.

I've noticed the number of the viewers going down... like in a hurry, I suppose it's because of the deletion you're talking about.... I haven't had a lot of fakes, maybe one or two... so not a problem for me. I only answer to e-mails received from gentlemen, not responding to flirts, unless I know them from before. Keep going, you have ways to go!! An on going problem if you want to know what I think, it will never be resolved. Happy people, don't have everything; they make the most of everything coming along their way.
| |||
|
I want to agree and second JFK's suggestion... if you were to provide 5 points per successful fake reported then I reckon that the site would clean itself... and the process would happen much quicker, you would also reward those who were not fake with the very currency which they could use to make contact and do all the other things that would make Heated Affairs/Passion more successful... Suggest it to someone Ryan! Even if it was only for a limited time (say one week - bag a fake week!).
| |||
|
Oh (sorry) and I forgot to mention the women who wink at me and give themselves geographically challenged... so they will list their location as something like Milton Keynes, London. Which is like saying that you live in Philadelphia, Washington DC... I get alot of those type.
| |||
|
Sadly they will be back somehow, my movements around the site seems to get to the real people but that does mean that I have stopped using parts of the site due to the high number of fakes that seem to be more noticeable in smaller areas like mine.
| |||
|
I did notice a lull, but yesterday frequent flirts from fakes started again. There are some good ideas suggested here like awarding points for reporting screen names that are then validated and removed as fakes, only one standard ID per computer, and a text message code to activate an account. Given the massive volume of the problem I would implement all three. While it is important to remove the fakes (typically women), it is equally important to keep and grow the number of real women on the site. You could go along way in this regards by eliminating the "Hooker" sister site, making some refinements of the advertising campaign and maybe including some guidelines to the terms so that folks realize that sending every woman on the site a "Wanna Fuck Tonight" email is grounds for being booted

I really don't get allot of fakes... I guess they target men. Susie...

Oh yes you can get A F F in public libraries. I always did back when I used one frequently. Most libraries have a room for the kids and another for the adults where the blocks are taken off as to access anything but hardcore pornography, so your argument is not realistically an applicable one.

i don't really deal with fakes...i think they target men on here! but i occasionally see them on my blog or blogs or in the magazine! oh and i've seen them in guys testimonials too! ..just join me on my blog bustybettyboop and still looking for some hot,sexy,creative contestants for my next contest...come join us! need a blog mentor or want to be one?
| |||
|
We could not see much difference as there are too many profiles on this site for any single individual member to get an idea of what really goes on BUT it is really nice to know that A F F is taking an active look at this. But it should be easy for A F F to use its vast IT resources to see where spammers and fakes are coming from. Go for it. The more its cleaned up the better.

HI Ryan, I think that there has been a small improvement in the last week, but could you make to reporting a little easier, I reported a fake for profile violation (an email address in the profile), but had to write a reason for the violation, where just looking at you can see the violation. and yes I am a major target, around 20 a day

Kudos were the only fun here? Good grief ! This post isn't about them lousy ass kudos. Jesus, get a grip !

Yes, I notice fewer fakes lately. That's not to say that there aren't still a lot of fake profiles. Searching for women between 20 and 39 within 50 miles of my location brings back the result of 27 obvious fakes within the first 4 pages of the search results. But I look at my b/f's new member match page from time to time and I notice a big difference now. At one point, it was 100% fake. Now, it seems to be all real-ish women, doing real things like blogging or posting or adding pictures to their accounts. So yes, there is a difference lately, but it's not a total elimination of obvious fake accounts.

Fewer "fakes", but like lowering the water in a stream after you've removed the rocks that disturb the surface...as the water level drops, more rocks appear. The fakes that appear now are "better" ones...more cleverly disguised, and providing less information, so that it's harder to pin something false on the profile. I suspect that we're starting to see the scammers who are willing to spend more time to create a few truly believable profiles rather than hundreds of "throwaways". Nevertheless, nice job! Things are definitely MUCH better now!
| |||
|
Guess some folks are unable to read plain English on your post here Ryan. Talking about billing and kudos ! Good grief ! One can wonder why some don't really want to talk about all the fakes when that's what this post is about. Can we guess why they won't discuss that instead of bring up these other two items? If in a person doesn't like this site anymore for whatever reasons, simply stop paying to be a premium member. No one is twisting your arm to do so. You know Vampires/fakes don't like to have a light shed on them as this post is doing, so hell they're trying to change the topic of it. Vampires/fakes also don't see their reflection in a mirror. Need a mirror real close here, for sure. "There are none so blind, as those that will not see."

Nope. seems o be about the same level of fakes in the Mpls/stp area of MN.

Dear Ryan, AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!!! Damn are we glad that came from you. Individual voting on the actual response blog is all too often motivated buy a dislike of the person or the profile rather than the actual comment. When we conducted an original post POLL last week (subject no longer matters) it started OK then we started to notice individual posts (replies) were being down voted where a vote was not required. That was amazing and showed that yes, possibly people do use bogus or multiple accounts to lift their point of view or their pet hate of the moment. Your original blog was more informative about fakes and spammers and does not require an agree/disagree to the article but your new blog comment will probably take a life of its own... Wow. Hmmm
| |||
|
I'm not a fan of voting in general. Really if there is voting on a blog post, it should be on the original post, not each comment. And I'm sure sock puppet accounts are there simply to vote comments down. But that's another discussion. I don't think fakes do this. I think real people with multiple accounts do this. And I'm sure sock puppet accounts are there simply to vote comments down. But that's another discussion. I don't think fakes do this. I think real people with multiple accounts do this. Since you, Ryan, mentioned voting in your comments on both this post and your comments on you kudos post, and expressed your displeasure and activism to have that feature removed, I feel free to reply to that issue as well. In your kudos post replies, you mentioned that voting on A/L was the next feature you wanted to get rid of. I commented on that comment. Now you state how you feel voting should be allowed on blogs, only the original post, not on each individual comment. I may be mistaken, but bloggers that don't want voting on their blogs can already disable this feature. It seems to be enabled on yours. I would agree that people with multiple profiles are misusing the vote feature. But I read a lot more complaints from women about "wanna fuk" emails. Way more. The email feature could be eliminated to rid the site of that abuse. The vote feature could also be removed. I read several complaints about the chat feature today. Doesn't seem that it would be very difficult to remove that as well. Seeing how many non fakes abuse that feature for abuse, consideration should be given to getting rid of it instead of addressing the real problem. But voting on comments does no real harm, in my opinion. Not to me anyway. I do find it interesting to view the votes on both the original post and each comment. But if the site finds it easier and cheaper to eliminate features, I understand. Fakes are a big problem. In my opinion, a major cause of the problem is with the site's advertising. Fakes and advertising are issues that many complain about and votes are scheduled to be the next feature to go....Beach Labore pro Pacem

there are a TON of fakes here.and, I can spot most like a fart in a car. lol you don't have to love me. just fuck me.
| |||

I had to change my vote today. It appears that the fakes are back again as strong as ever.
| |||
|
I noticed a drop in the number of very obvious names they were using for a short time but they seem to be on the rise again?
| |||
|
Yes, the infamous "Snoogie Woogie Scammer." My favourite name so far is "SmooshiePoo."
| |||

It would be lovely to have some way of "flagging" profile that you think is fake. I realize that some folks will be malicious with that, but it could be more like a "if you get more than a dozen in a day" sort of thing rather than having an instant reaction... "Sex is emotion in motion." ~ Mae West
| |||
|
there should be a easy button on all pages that users can use to flag accounts as most the fakes you can tell as soon as you can look at them.....or offer a discount or free account to people that are on a lot with some kind of free training. Have some of us in all areas flagging accounts for trade

I've been pretty lucky according to the stories I hear. So I guess I'm doing something right only running across one fake in my time here, it's more the fools that bother me.

Most of the fakes seem too perfect to be real, I have noticed most are looking for men for discreet relationships.
| |||
|
Less fakes you're having a laugh. The site is overrun with them. I'm stunned at how Ghana is now full of beautiful young white women. If I can easily spot fakes why can't your staff?
| |||

There is no way to completely eliminate all the spammers but to me I have seen a drop in them! Good job!!

I have been here quite some time and there are certain periods when a) your restrictions are lax or b) the fakes really multiply. Its generally the worst at the beginning of springtime, do your statistics show that? Aut viam inveniam aut faciam Tips for Guys to Meet Women Things i miss most about relationships

the spammer with the handle poof number number number number or snuggle number number number has more lives than a cat.. I'm tired of the crap here and the inability to deal with the spammers
| |||
|
I've been thinking this over for a couple of days and I can admit my initial reaction was wrong. There are, indeed, fewer fakes and spammers on Heated Affairs lately. I have been one of your harshest critics on this issue for some time now. Thank you for making the first good steps.
| |||

good work

5/17/2010 1:39 pm |
We have noticed there are a few less "fakes" that are supposed to be in our neck of the woods. There for a while they were all we seemed to stumble across. It has gotten better but I don't see how how the problem can be completely taken care of.
| |||
|
I just changed my vote from "yes" to "no". It did seem for a while that there were fewer fakes, but I'm getting more and more of them, and it's clear that most of the "new" sign-ups are fake. And Ghana is back at full strength. Proper review of new profiles would stop a LOT of this.
| |||
|
I'm posting here because I recently moved temporarily and see the exact same pattern everywhere: A ton of new fake users with CamelCaseNames4020 and 2-4 digits of numbers on the end. And endless sea of them. This is the main thing impeding me from wanting to upgrade my membership, and it has been a sticking issue since I joined. Have there been any more attempts to target these recently?
